J-FLANGE: Describes the rim flange most commonly used in passenger car wheels.

LEAD WEIGHT: Describes a balance weight on a wheel rim.

LOCKING LUG BOLT: Describes an anti-theft wheel lug bolt requiring a special wrench to remove it.

MAG ALLOY: Describes a magnesium alloy, a strong, lightweight metal used for many components although particularly associated with sport wheels produced using the material.

MAG WHEEL: Describes the attractive, lightweight sports wheels produced in magnesium.

MULTI-PIECE RIM: Describes a wheel rim type that includes at least one demountable bead seat to allow tire mounting.

SPINDLE CAP: Describes a small metal cap usually found on the front wheel bearing.

ONE-PIECE RIM: Describes a wheel rim consisting of one part, designed for mounting tubeless tires.

ONE-PIECE WHEEL: Describes a wheel whose rim is constructed in a single piece that incorporates a well formation near its centre to enable the tire beads to be mounted over the rim flanges.

OUTBOARD FLAT HUMP: Describes a safety contour found in tubeless passenger car rims that feature a flattened hump on the outer bead seat

OUTBOARD ROUND HUMP: Describes a safety contour for tubeless passenger car rims that feature a round hump on the outer bead seat

OUTER CAP NUT: Describes a securing device that holds the outer wheel in place against the hub in a dual-mounted disc wheel.

RIM DIAMETER: Describes the distance between the intersection of the bead seats and the vertical walls of the wheel rim flanges.

RIM DRIVERS: Describes the metal blocks riveted on both sides of the valve slot to prevent valve damage in the event of rim slippage on cast spokes.

RIM FLANGE: Describes the part of a rim that supports the tire bead in a lateral direction.

RIM WELL: Describes the portion of a wheel rim that has a substantially smaller diameter than the bead seats, with sufficient depth and width to enable the tire beads to be forced over the mounting side of the rim flange.

RUDGE NUT: Describes a quick-release nut used on central-locking wheels.

SAFETY RIM: Describes a wheel rim with two safety ridges, one for each lip, whose purpose is to prevent the tire beads from entering the drop centre area in the event of a blowout.

SPACE SAVER SPARE: Describes a spare wheel and tire that is much smaller in diameter than the vehicle's regular tires used as a temporary replacement in the event of a flat tire.

SPARE TIRE: Describes an extra wheel and tire assembly stored in the vehicle in the event of a flat tire or similar emergency.

SPIGOT MOUNTING: Describes a set of wheels incorporating a centre aperture in the wheel disc, machined to provide a close tolerance fit on the hub spigot to ensure its location.

SPOKE: Describes one of several wires used to hold the hub in the centre of a wheel rim, transferring the load from the wheel's perimeter to the hub.

SPOKE WHEEL: Describes a spoke design with a wheel spider that can have between 28, 30, 32, or 34 spokes arranged at different angles in a criss-cross pattern.

STEEL WHEEL: Describes a type of wheel consisting of a disc and rim welded together to provide improved impact resistance and increased weight than alloy wheels at a lower price.
