FILTER: Describes a device designed to prevent the intrusion of foreign substances into oil, gasoline, water and other engine fluids
FILTER CARTRIDGE: Describes the replaceable porous part found in some oil and air filters.
FILTER SCREEN: Describes a piece of wire mesh in a pipe or surrounding an air filter designed to collect dirt and foreign matter.
FILTRATION: Describes the removal of suspended particles from a liquid or the air with the aid of a filter.
ACTIVATED CARBON CANISTER: Describes an automotive filter that comes into action when gas tank fuel vapours accumulate when the vehicle is not running and remain trapped in the filter. When the engine is running, hot air is forced into the filter and push out the vapours into the engine. reducing pollution and conserving fuel.
AIRBOX: Describes a container designed to hold an air filter.
BYPASS FILTER: Describes an oil filter that constantly filters a portion of the oil flowing through the engine.
CHARCOAL FILTER: Describes a filtration system using activated carbon to remove impurities.
DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER: Describes a filter which removes small particles from a diesel exhaust.
IN-LINE FUEL FILTER: Describes a fuel filter placed within the fuel pipes coming from the fuel tank or fuel pump. In order for the filter to be installed, a length of the fuel line needs to be removed, and the filter installed in its place.
INTEGRAL FUEL FILTER: Describes a fuel filter that can be part of the fuel or the carburettor rather than be attached to a fuel line.
FUEL FILTER: Describes a device that removes impurities from the fuel before it gets to the carburettor. usually found near the carburettor in the fuel line that comes from the fuel pump. Without a filter, the jets and orifices in the carburettor will soon become clogged.
MICRO OIL FILTER: Describes a variety of oil filter capable of trapping particles down to 1 micrometer in order allowing for extended oil change intervals as much as 60,000 miles (100,000 km) without affecting engine health.
OIL FILTER: Describes a device used to strain the oil in the engine thus removing abrasive particles.
STRAINER: Describes a form of wire mesh filter used in an oil pump.
VACUUM FILTER: Describes a type of filter that eradicates electrical noise background from the vacuum signal sent by the vacuum sensor to the ECU.
